2 Weeks to go... Champions elect?

The first XI pursuit of the Division 1 title received a boost when they completed a 10 victory over Old Sharlston and South Kirkby only took 4 points from defeat to Monk Bretton.

Jake Abdy took a hattrick as part of his 5 wicket haul in bowling out Old Sharlston for 111. Fairburn achieved this total for the loss of 2 wickets in 30 overs.

The final 2 games are against Askern and Ackworth who will both present stern tests, but with only 10 points needed from the 20 available... we are nearly there.

The second XI recorded an emphatic victory over severely depleated Old Sharlston 2nd XI. Old Sharlston opted to bat first but only made 38 which was knocked off quickly inside 7 overs.

The 2nd XI have an outside chance of promotion but probably a bridge too far, but should be happy with a top 5 finish.

Yorkshire Council Playoffs

A depleted first XI took on the wealth (in talent and money) of Methley in the QF of the Yorkshire Council Playoffs and put in a valiant effort.

It wasn't an easy wicket all afternoon after the previous evenings deluge. Asked to bat, Fairburn were 100ao. In reply, we made Methley sweat a bit. Guy taking 5-39 from 9 as Methley knocked them off 7 down.

Tea Room

Initial discussions have taken place regarding the possiblilty of building a tea room next to the current pavilion. Some plans have been drawn which can be seen in the pavilion. Funding will have to be obtained before this project can be realized and so we are still in the early stages at the moment.

New Players wanted for 2015

Whether you are a seasoned campaigner or a complete novice, you will be made very welcome at Fairburn.

The First XI is very competitive and are hoping to strengthen for 2015 to try and regain the title they won in 2012.

The Second XI are less competitive and aims to give everyone an opportunity to play cricket, particularly looking to promote promising juniors in their first steps into senior cricket.
