Profile

Mark started his career solely as a bowler who mixed an aggressive style with a decent level of control, however in recent years his improvement with the bat is considerable. In the nets and winter months, Abdy shows signs of being a destructive middle-order player, but by his own admission he hasn't transformed this form to the match situation often enough. Mark appears to save his best batting form to the back-end of the season (or when playing for Hull University), particularly in the title-challenging 2006 season, where his late run-spree kept Fairburn within a whisker of the title. 2007 saw a return to the bowling action (mainly due to the constant moaning at skipper Clegg for a chance) and he repaid the team with some solid whole-hearted displays, most noticeably at Swillington where he claimed 5-4 and proceeded to let all the world know about it. At 21, Abdy will feel his best is about to come, although opposition players will already know that Abdy has already mastered the art of sledging.
