John Bickerdike

Bickerdike is a Fairburn CC Legend, who oversaw the reforming of the second team at the start of the century, turned them into a respectable outfit and then passed down his reins to Chris Dillerstone who has consolidated on JB's good work. As a player, JB is renowed for this prodigous leg-spin which continues to fox opponents year on year. Famed for his eccentric appeals (JB goes on one knee whilst pirouetting and shuffling towards the umpire and thrusting a finger in the air, before apologising to the umpire and patting him on the back), JB has continued to average under 20 with the ball for the past few seasons. A top club-man, Bickerdike tends to allow youngerblood to bat higher than him despite his ability to piroutette (notice a theme) 360 degrees and smash the ball for six. All Fairburn players hope that they can churn yet more spell-binding seasons from this legspinning legend.
